This is the first of what I plan to be periodic entries to this blog. My intention is to use this as a more informal way to disseminate information, and let everyone know what is going on. I hope it can reach some people who may not be on the Yahoo list, and be an additional way to communicate with the Region.

First, I'd like to thank everyone for their well wishes, both public and private. I haven't had time to respond to all of you, and I hope you will accept this blanket Thank You.

The main thing I want to type about is Show Scheduling. I know this is a very hot topic with a lot of clubs, and we do have a mandate from our new CFA President to "fill your weekends, prudently." I take that last word, prudently, very seriously. Randomly filling dates will eventually do more harm than good, and we must remember that Region 5 does not operate in a vacuum. We do have to consider the needs of Region 2. Northern California has been very hard hit by a loss of shows, and we need to recover those shows. If we allow CFA's presence to die out in the southern part of Region 2, those are exhibitors that won't be available to Region 5 shows, either.

So, right now, we are assessing the truly available dates. We are asking clubs about their intentions for this show season, so we know what dates may be available on a one-time basis. Once we compile this information, we will try to fill the available dates in a logical, intelligent way that serves everyone's needs as completely as possible.
